WHSCC Newfoundland and Labrador recognizes local Dick Martin Scholarship Award winner

Date Issued:

It is great to see the Workplace Health, Safety & Compensation Commission (WHSCC) of Newfoundland and Labrador engaging stakeholders across the province with a message of prevention – and that message is getting through. Statistically, over the past decade, the province has climbed from the worst to the fourth-best nationally.

As part of its efforts, the WHSCC is looking to develop ambassadors for safety in all areas of Newfoundland and Labrador.  So it was particularly appropriate during a WHSCC event with the Rotary Club of Corner Brook that Bernard Kenney, a native of Newfoundland, was presented with the Dick Martin Scholarship Award from CCOHS, in honour of his dedication and accomplishment as a student in the field of occupational health and safety.  Bernard represents the future of health and safety and exemplifies the type of leadership resource that the province will need in its continued initiatives to address injuries and illnesses in the workplace.
