I’d like to welcome Shelly Dauphinee to our Council of Governors. Shelly will be serving a four-year appointment as governor representing the province of New Brunswick.
Shelly and I had an opportunity to chat right after the announcement of her appointment about not only CCOHS governance issues, but a broad scope of H&S and prevention issues in Canada and issues concerning her home province of New Brunswick.
She has demonstrated her commitment to prevention and her diverse experience gained from management roles for public, private and not-for-profit organizations over the past 15 years will be a tremendous asset to CCOHS.
Before taking on her current role as vice-president of Worksafe Services, Shelly was director of planning and policy for WorkSafeNB and Atlantic director of policy at the Canadian Red Cross. The organizations that Shelley has managed over the span of her career so far are characterized by diverse stakeholder interests and by legislative and regulatory environments. I’m pleased that her ability to bring a balanced perspective to the table mirrors the objectives of our tripartite council representing governments, employers and labour.
I look forward to working with her and the Council of Governors in ensuring the fundamental right of all Canadians to a healthy and safe workplace.
