>Report on Annual Expenditures for Travel, Hospitality and Conferences – 2010/2011

As required by the Treasury Board Directive for the Management of Expenditures on Travel, Hospitality and Conferences, this report provides information on the total annual expenditures for each of travel, hospitality and conferences for CCOHS for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2011.

This information is updated annually and does not contain information withheld under the Access to Information Act or the Privacy Act.

Expenditures on travel, hospitality and conferences incurred by federal departments and agencies are for the most part directly related to supporting departmental mandate and the government's priorities.

In particular, for CCOHS this includes the delivery of our programs and services from our head office in Hamilton, Ontario. We do not have any regional offices.

Established in 1978, CCOHS promotes the total well-being - physical, psychosocial and mental health - of working Canadians by providing information, training, education, management systems and solutions that support health, safety and wellness programs. A not-for-profit federal department corporation, CCOHS is governed by a tripartite Council - representing government, employers and labour - to ensure a balanced, approach to workplace health and safety issues. We offer a range of workplace health and safety services to help organizations raise awareness, assess risks, implement prevention programs, and improve health, safety and well-being.

Additional information regarding our strategic outcomes, responsibilities and program activity architecture can be found in our Report on Plans and Priorities at: http://www.tbs-sct.gc.ca/rpp/2010-2011/inst/occ/occ01-eng.asp

CCOHS' program involves travel relating to program delivery. Many of our travel costs are offset by re-imbursements from other organizations which we work with.

As part of our mandate for workplace health and safety promotion, CCOHS has exhibits at some 20-25 events/ conferences annually across Canada and on occasion internationally. CCOHS is located in Hamilton, Ontario and though a national centre does not have regional offices. Conferences provide an opportunity for regional populations to interact directly with CCOHS staff. These events also provide opportunities for outreach, awareness building and promotion of the occupational health and safety services provided by CCOHS. This program does not include staff attendance as delegates at conferences.
