>Kirkland Lake Miner's   Memorial

Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Canada

In Ontario alone, more than 1700 miners have been killed on the job since 1930.

Artists - Sally Lawrence and Rob Moir were commissioned to create a monument that would honour the dead of Kirkland Lake and give visitors a sense of the work and lives of miners in the north. It is also a reminder of the struggles this generation of workers took on to achieve many of the rights today’s workers often take for granted. An inscription on the monument helps to do this.
