Hamilton Safety Week

CCOHS and Hamilton Safe Communities invite you to join us as we celebrate North American Occupational Safety and Health Week and the third annual Hamilton Safety Week.

North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) week allows Canada, the United States and Mexico to jointly make their respective working populations aware of the importance of preventing workplace illnesses and injuries. More about NAOSH Week

The National launch of NAOSH Week is set to take place in Edmonton on Tuesday, May 6, 2003. CCOHS President and CEO Len Hong will be speaking at this event.

A series of events and workshops are planned for the CCOHS celebration of this special week including:

Celebration and acknowledgement of North American Occupational Safety & Health Week (NAOSH Week)

Celebration and acknowledgement of Hamilton Safety Week
A partnership of Hamilton Safe Communities Council

Dick Martin Scholarship Award Inaugural Presentation
The award will be presented to Ontario-based winner Joan Saary by Cathy Martin (representing Martin Family), representatives of CCOHS’ Council of Governors and David Bennett of the Canadian Labour Congress. Vancouver-based recipients Kristin Holm and Karen McCaig will receive their award at an event in Vancouver.

2003 Safe Workplace Awareness Program Graduation Ceremony
25 successful Hamilton-area businesses will receive their certificates of completion for the WSIB and Safe Communities sponsored program.

Viewing of the Canadian LifeQuilt
Shirley Hickman, Safe Communities Regional Coordinator will discuss how her son’s memorial is part of the LifeQuilt project, a unique commemoration of young people who were killed or injured on the job.

Health and Safety Workshops FREE!
Sponsored by CCOHS, the Hamilton Safe Communities Council and their partners in safety, these informal, content-rich 60-minute sessions will be conducted by health and safety professionals from the Hamilton community. For more information on these workshops click here.
