The edger was equipped with anti-kickback fingers. It was found that these fingers were worn flat from continued use and could no longer prevent kickback. *** APPLICABLE SECTION(S) OF INDUSTRIAL REGULATIONS *** 1. That all equipment on site be inspected periodically and that all defects be corrected (OHS Act 9(2)(a)). 2. That particular attention be given to the condition of the anti- kickback fingers. Anti-kickback fingers should be sharpened, adjusted and aligned at regular interval. 3. Acquaint all employees to the hazards of the job (Act 9(2)(b)). The middle fingers on an edger are the fingers which usually show the most wear. To equalize wear these middle fingers should be interchanged with the fingers on the outside or replaced altogether. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
