Abstract:
Work can be a dangerous place for kids. In 2005, the most recent year for which statistics are available, more than 3,600 workers between the ages of 15 and 19 were hurt seriously enough to need time off work. That's almost ten a day for every day of the year. And what's even worse, 5 of them died on the job. If you have teens at work, don't just wait for something to happen. There are things you can teach them, and questions you can ask, to help them come home safe. This guide will give you general knowledge about workplace health and safety that applies to most jobs. And it will arm you with specific knowledge about hazards your teen might find at work.
