Depending on the legal requirements in your jurisdiction and your corporate policy, workplace violence can have a broad definition that includes threatening behaviours, verbal or written threats, harassment, verbal abuse or physical attacks. Workplace violence can take the form of malicious rumours and pranks, property damage, theft, psychological trauma, and physical or sexual assault. Workplace violence can occur in any work environment. However, there are certain work processes, situations and interactions that can put people at increased risk from workplace violence.
