Job Safety Analysis Made Simple is a practical tool to help people identify workplace hazards and develop safe work practices to prevent injuries and illnesses and other losses.
Objectives
Employers are responsible for assessing the health and safety risk of a job and ensuring safety measures are in place to eliminate any risk to their employees. The Job Safety Analysis Made Simple publication introduces the concept of Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and outlines two practical methods of identifying potential hazards: Change Analysis and the Energy Barrier Approach. The JSA discusses the strengths and application of each method, as well as providing lengthy tips and commentary to help develop safe work practices to prevent injuries and illnesses in the workplace.
Scope
The straight forward, 36 page report is chock full of sample worksheets, forms and processes as well as step-by-step instructions that clearly guide the reader through the development of a job safety analysis process customized to their particular workplace.
Target Audience
This publication is intended for workers, managers, supervisors, health and safety committee members and health and safety representatives and is written in language suitable for those familiar with the workplace, but are not necessarily health and safety experts.
Job Safety Analysis Made Simple is a joint production of CCOHS and HRSDC (Human Resources and Skills Development Canada). CCOHS is the only source for the most up-to-date edition of the publication and the only place where both English or French versions are available.
