The metal decking previously installed was covered with a morning frost. The worker attempted to kick a piece of decking into place so that it could be secured by welding. As he kicked, he slipped and fell over the edge of the building falling approximately 35 feet to the ground. Fall protection equipment was not in use. *** APPLICABLE SECTION(S) OF INDUSTRIAL REGULATIONS *** 1. All workers to be trained in the recognition of potential hazards associated with their work. 2. Fall protection equipment should be provide for workers at elevations greater than 10 ft. when near the perimenter of a building or near roof openings. Part 10(18), Reg. 77-1 3. Particular attention should be paid by workers and employers to increased risks that arise when roof conditions become or are likely to become slippery.
