An internally mounted pressurized hose had become detached from a pipe fitting, filling the adjoining electrical compartment with water and immersing the electrical terminal block. This caused the kettle walls and the control panel to develop a voltage with respect to ground. *** LOCATION(S) AND SECTOR(S): *** Commercial and institutional kitchen operations. *** SUGGESTED PRECAUTIONS AND APPLICABLE SECTION(S) OF THE OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY ACT: *** All flexible water lines should be isolated from the electrical compartment. A 3-phase 208 volt Ground Fault Current Interruptor (GFCI) should be incorporated into the circuit. Section 25(h) of the Occupational Health and Safety Act states that an employer shall: "take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of a worker."
