National Forum Hosted by CCOHS “Leading Workplace Change” in Canada’s National Capital Region

Gatineau, QC (March 4, 2010) - The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) will host its national forum, March 8 and 9, 2010 in the National Capital Region.

Forum III: Leading Workplace Change will kick off with opening remarks and welcome by special guest, The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Labour, on Monday, March 8 at 8:30 a.m. EST, in the Mozart Room.

WHEN: Monday, March 8, 2010, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. EST and Tuesday, March 9, 2010, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. EST

The Forum III program features expert presenters; tripartite (employer, labour and government) representation; interactive workshops; simultaneous French language interpretation and certification maintenance points. Sessions will focus on the topics of leadership and how it can impact workplace violence prevention, participatory ergonomics, and multi-generational teams.

The program includes the following topics and speakers:

  • Leading @ the Speed of Change - Jim Clemmer, bestselling author and international improvement leader
  • Leadership Within the System - Dr. Julian Barling, Professor of Organizational Behavior and Psychology, School of Business, Queen's University
  • Employer and Labour Perspectives on Leadership and Responsibility - Cathy Walker, Former National Health and Safety Director of the Canadian Auto Workers Union and Frank Saunders, Vice President Nuclear Oversight and Regulatory Affairs, Bruce Power
  • Implementing Successful Participatory Ergonomic Programs: Opportunities and Challenges - Dr. Nancy Theberge, Professor in the Departments of Kinesiology and Sociology at the University of Waterloo
