Hamilton, ON (May 6, 2011) – Jennifer Dipper, technical specialist, on behalf of the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS), will be presenting GHS SDSs: It’s More Than Just Dropping the ‘M’ at this year’s American Industrial Hygiene Conference and Expo (AIHce), on Monday, May 16, 2011. The session is part of a podium of speakers entitled Management and Training Issues: Communication.
In her presentation, Ms. Dipper will outline some key tips about how suppliers can manage the transition to the recommended Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) Safety Data Sheet (SDS) format. CCOHS specialists have reviewed the new requirements and will present their evaluation of how MSDS data may move into an SDS. The transition will not be as simple as dropping the "M" from MSDS, as there are some new and modified data fields which require specific attention and expertise. These tips will help both (M)SDS authors and users to be better informed about the changes that are coming.
