Complete Canadian enviroOSH Legislation Plus Referenced Standards Now Available Via CCOHS Web Site
In a major expansion of its services to those concerned with occupational health and safety in Canada, the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) has made a comprehensive listing of Canadian OSH Legislation Plus Standards available on its Web site.
Identified as Canadian enviroOSH Legislation Plus Standards, this database contains the full text of workplace health, safety and environmental legislation, plus the complete text of the standards cited in the legislation, accessible via hypertext links. The series includes referenced standards from the Canadian Standards Association (CSA International); the Workers? Compensation Board of British Columbia (WCB BC); and the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB).
"This new feature provides users with the means to obtain their exact legal requirements immediately," says Len Hong, President and CEO of CCOHS. "Instead of searching many different Web sites, they now have access to complete and current legislative information from one reliable source, making it easy to ensure that they can take all reasonable care to fulfill their responsibilities to both their workers and the environment. It literally takes the guesswork out of staying current and in compliance."
The new Web site data incorporates full-text legislation and amendments from all jurisdictions, and includes high-resolution graphics and tables. In total, over 400 CSA International standards are covered, as well as 100 CGSB and WCB BC standards, relating to workers? compensation, transportation of dangerous goods, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), environmental protection, and several other topics.
The "Plus Standards" collection has proven widely popular when distributed in CD-ROM format; its availability directly from the CCOHS Web site, including extensive hyperlinks and a powerful search engine with full-text retrieval features, is expected to dramatically increase the product?s popularity even further.
Best accessed with current versions of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer, Canadian enviroOSH Legislation Plus Standards is available in both National and Regional collections. In addition to the Web format, it is also available in Intranet, CD-ROM and network versions.
