E-Course Offers Information to Help Prevent Ergonomic Injuries
|
|
Computers and other office equipment continue to transform office work, but often at a price to the workers’ comfort, health and safety. CCOHS’ new e-course, Office Ergonomics, deals specifically with problems and injuries related to the use of computers and other office equipment, and provides a practical introduction to office ergonomics. The goal of the course is to provide users with the knowledge to help find solutions to ergonomic issues in their workplace.
Ergonomics is concerned with preventing pain and injury related to factors such as pace of work, the strain on joints and muscles and the effects of posture. These injuries are called Work-related Musculoskeletal Disorders (WMSD). They are not usually caused by an acute event (such as slip, trip or fall) but rather, develop more gradually. They can range in severity from mild and temporary to debilitating and chronic.
The e-course will benefit anyone working in an office, as well as young or new workers. Safety professionals & human resources staff responsible for training & compliance will also find the course helpful.
This course is delivered over the Internet in an e-learning format. All you need is a computer, access to the Internet - and you are ready to go! This e-course lets you learn at your own pace and in your own environment at your convenience.
The course contains references, quizzes and an exam and takes about 40 to 60 minutes to complete.
Office Ergonomics is currently available in English, with the French version scheduled for release at the beginning of June. The course is offered at introductory pricing until June 30, 2005:
Single User (90 days access) $60
Multi-user License (1 year access) $180 + $15 per seat
