Health and Safety Course Dates Set for 2009

 

HAMILTON, ON (January 14, 2009) –The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) has set 2009 course dates for two of their classroom courses: Health & Safety for Managers and Supervisors, and Health & Safety for Managers and Supervisors in the Canadian Federal Jurisdiction.

Health & Safety for Managers and Supervisors is a two-day course that provides managers and supervisors and those with health and safety responsibilities with the information they need to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses and to develop a safety culture. Topics include safety principles and risk management, legislation, hazard recognition and control, emergency preparedness and fire prevention, occupational hygiene, and program development and implementation. Health & Safety for Managers and Supervisors in the Canadian Federal Jurisdiction is a practical overview of the health and safety responsibilities of managers and supervisors in the Canadian federal jurisdiction. Managers and supervisors are responsible for carrying out the duties of the employer in the work areas that they manage. The course focuses on those requirements of the Canada Labour Code part II (CLC-II) which are likely to be important to managers and supervisors in their daily work. This course is designed to be a useful starting point for managers and supervisors who will be trained on health and safety committees, WHMIS and other occupational health and safety topics.
