About the Role

  • As a Senior Technical Specialist, Occupational Health and Safety, you will support the planning and plan implementation of the Inquiries and Technical Services Unit and other assigned project teams. You’re the subject matter expert for health and safety and are responsible for the final approval of content for projects, products, and services.
  • Leveraging your technical expertise, you will provide advice on inquiries and to staff about occupational health and safety matters. You will research, analyze, write, and review health and safety-related content for projects, presentations, conferences, webinars, e-courses, communication tools, publications, and other services. Applying critical appraisal methods, you will edit technical health and safety content for accuracy, balance, clear language, and completeness to ensure CCOHS standards are met.
  • As a subject matter expert, you’ll represent CCOHS through various committees, national meetings, working groups, and in the media, while maintaining a high level of awareness regarding national and international initiatives and priorities, as well as stakeholder needs.

What You Have

  • Master's degree in occupational hygiene, occupational health and safety, or a related field and at least ten years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CRSP and/or CIH/ROH designation is required.
  • Sound experience in researching, writing, analyzing, critical appraisal, reviewing and delivering occupational health and safety content in various media.
  • Excellent Internet research skills.
  • Expertise in adult education concepts and techniques.
  • Project management skills and excellent ability to work in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to understand e-learning software packages.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in order to explain complex technical information in clear language.
  • Experience and skill in synthesizing scientific and technical information and presenting it in clear language, including reconciling conflicting information or when new concepts have little supporting information.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in both official languages are highly desirable.

Salary

Within the range of

$105,380 to $127,695 (CCOHS-11) per annum.
