About the Role

  • As an Instructional Designer, you’ll build, edit, and quality assure the quality of training deliverables, using a variety of e-learning tools and methodologies. You’ll apply your knowledge of instructional design best practices to develop and create engaging courses that enhance retention and learning transfer.
  • You’ll work collaboratively with health and safety subject matter experts to assess learning needs and design compelling course curricula; set end goals that align with course content; and create modes of assessment, such as tests or quizzes, to measure the effectiveness of the course.
  • You have a keen eye for detail and will perform quality assurance activities at various stages of course development to ensure CCOHS' standards are met.

What You Have

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in instructional design or at least 5 years’ relevant experience in instructional design or adult learning.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ recent progressive experience in training and development or instructional design.
  • Demonstrated ability in applying adult learning practices to needs assessments, design, development, and evaluative methods.
  • Proven experience in instructional design for e-learning, development and associated technologies (e.g. Articulate 360), including experience developing scripts or storyboards for e-learning and course assets (e.g. video).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in designing interactive e-learning modules in various formats.
  • Completion of CTDP (Certified Training and Development Professional) designation and/or Adult Learning Certificate an asset.
  • Experience in applying WCAG 2.0 (or comparable) accessibility standards.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles, training methodologies, and best practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of e-course development software (e.g. Articulate 360), audio editing software, as well as word processing and spreadsheet software (e.g. Word, Excel).
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and strong project management skills.
  • The ability to work with content in both official languages (English, French) is required and the ability to communicate in both is strongly preferred.
