Workplaces are Invited to National Launch Event to Kick Off Safety and Health Week 2026

April 22, 2026 – Hamilton, ON – National Committee for Safety and Health Week

From May 4-9, 2026, workplaces across Canada are encouraged to celebrate Safety and Health Week and promote awareness of injury and illness prevention at work.

The national Safety and Health Week partners, the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS), Threads of Life and Health and Safety Professionals Canada (HSPC), will officially launch the week on Monday, May 4 with a free virtual event.

Safety and Health Week partners Anne Tennier, President and Chief Executive Officer, CCOHS; Eugene Gutierrez, Executive Director, Threads of Life; and Dave Turner, President, Health and Safety Professionals Canada (HSPC), will be joined by special guests to kick off the event. Threads of Life family speaker Alex Tuff from St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, will share how he was impacted by the loss of his brother in a workplace explosion. Winners of the Focus on Safety National Youth Video Contest will also be announced.
