Occupational Health and Safety Scholarship Winners Revealed

April 30, 2018 – Hamilton, ON – Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS)
Today, the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) announced the winners of the 2018 Dick Martin Scholarship, awarded to post-secondary students enrolled either a full-time or part-time program leading to an occupational health and safety certificate, diploma, or degree from an accredited Canadian college or university. 
The two recipients, Travis McLennon (Ontario) and Jeff Sabine (Saskatchewan) will each be awarded $3,000. In addition, their respective academic institutions, the University of Toronto and Saskatchewan Polytechnic, will each receive $500.
Scholarship winners are announced leading up to North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week (May 6-12, 2018) to help focus the attention of employers, workers and the public on the importance of preventing injury and illness in the workplace, at home and in the community.

  • CCOHS awards a $3,000 scholarship to each a college and university level winner.
  • Scholarships are awarded annually; deadline for application is January 31st.
  • CCOHS’ Council of Governors established the Dick Martin Scholarship Award fund in 2002 in the memory of Dick Martin, a past Governor on the CCOHS Council and a pioneer of workplace health and safety in Canada.
