There is an opioid crisis in Canada. This crisis can impact individuals and their families. It may also impact your workplace, and your right to work in a safe and healthy environment. Learn about these impacts and the steps you need to follow to understand opioid use, reduce stigma, and provide appropriate support in the workplace.

  • Understanding opioids and stigma
  • Knowing your employer’s policy and procedures
  • Signs of opioid poisoning
  • Reporting and responding to concerns

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Recognize opioids and their intended uses
  • Identify why opioid use in the workplace can be an issue
  • How to avoid using stigmatizing language or behaviours
  • How to respond to concerns of impairment without stigma
  • Identify why naloxone is used when providing first aid

Average time to complete this course is approximately 45 minutes.

Target Audience

This course introduces employees to the impacts of opioid use in the workplace. A corresponding course for employers is also available.
