The risk of spreading COVID-19 exists in both public and community settings as well as in the workplace. Your home life and work life impact each other. By choosing lower risk activities wherever possible, you lower the risk of COVID-19 transmission, both at home and at work.

Outside of work: Lower risk activities

High risk activities at work and outside of work

  • Physical contact
  • Settings with singing, shouting, cheering
  • Interacting with people beyond your household
  • Public or shared transit
  • Close contact

Choose lower risk activities both at work and outside of work.

Lower risk activities

  • Choosing outdoor gatherings, exercise, and activities
  • Only spending time with members of your household
  • Commuting individually (e.g., driving, biking)

Higher risk activities

  • Close contact with people outside of your household
  • Attending events with singing, shouting, and cheering
  • Using public transit during peak hours or shared transportation

Reduce your risk by using multiple layers of protection

  • Stay home when sick
  • Wear a well-fitting respirator or mask around others
  • Avoid crowded and poorly ventilated spaces
  • Avoid close contact with others outside of your household
  • Avoid contact with shared items and high-touch surfaces
  • Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects
  • Practise good hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette often
  • Stay up to date with your COVID-19 vaccinations
  • Follow the advice of your local public health agency and your workplace policies and practices
