CCOHS worked in collaboration with the National Office of WHMIS in Health Canada to develop a series of 24 WHMIS Fact Sheets. These eye-catching, informative Fact Sheets are written in clear-language, are widely used for workplace training and are ideal for printing and posting in the workplace.
The Fact Sheets are organized under three categories: WHMIS Basics; Hazard Topics; and Workplace Controls. They include topics such as: What is WHMIS; WHMIS – A Shared Responsibility; Classes of WHMIS-Controlled Products; The Hazard Symbols of WHMIS; Education and Training Requirements.
WHMIS Fact Sheets are available in PDF in both English and French and can be obtained by contacting CCOHS Client Services. Be sure to specify which category of Fact Sheets you would like.
Objective
These Fact Sheets help to promote awareness of key health and safety issues related to WHMIS. They are widely used for training and information. These sheets are also available on the Guidance Documents page of the national WHMIS website at www.whmis.gc.ca.
Scope
These sheets cover all the WHMIS basics for training such as roles, responsibilities, classes, symbols, plus they provide information on the hazards and safe use of some key WHMIS classes.
